History of Primary Tuition Services

Primary Tuition Services began in 200? .

In 1995, after 10 years teaching in schools, I took a career break to start a family.

In 1999 I started to tutor a couple of pupils on a Saturday morning either in my home or theirs.

As my children grew older I was able to take on work in the evenings and eventually after school as well.

In 200? I launched Primary Tuition Services and have created a successful  business with a reputation for helping children gain confidence in their own ability and have a thorough understanding in both Maths and English.

Many of my pupils come through referrals from previous clients who have recommended me to others.

In June 2017 I appointed an experienced Primary teacher, Yana Williams, to join Primary Tuition Services. When she moved away from the area in July 2018, I appointed two new teachers: Sarah Milward and Eleanor Halse. In December 2019, Eleanor moved away from the Wimborne area leaving Sarah and myself to continue tutoring. All tutors are DBS cleared.

I have been teaching for twenty years and still enjoy it with a passion!

I get great satisfaction out of making learning come alive for children and finding different ways to help them achieve their full potential.

Having been a primary school SENCo and  Deputy Head Teacher for ten years, I have a good understanding of how children learn and the different strategies I can use to help them overcome any difficulties they may have.

I have considerable experience of working with children with dyslexia.

Past pupils have told me that they have left primary school confident that they are able to cope with  the challenges of secondary school, thanks to the support they received.

I have a degree in English and have been a consultant lead teacher for maths in Dorset; supporting other teachers to improve their teaching andthe pupils' learning and achievement.

I currently work for Poole Borough in early intervention to improve outcomes for children.

I have three children of my own who have all been through first, middle and upper schools in the local area. As a supply teacher I have a number of teacher contacts within my local schools which means that if the parent wishes, I would be happy to liaise with their child's teacher.

I currently work as a supply teacher and have had several short term contracts over the last few years.

I have lived in  Wimborne since 1990 and have been involved with the schools that my children attended as both a parent helper and  governor.

I am an experienced teacher with a total of 30 years of teaching either in schools or as a private tutor.

I have had recent classroom experience in Dorset, Poole and Bournemouth primary and middle schools as well as experience of a wide age range over my teaching career.

I have taught most primary subjects but have particular expertise in maths and English.

I have taught chidren with S.E.N. within mainstream schools.
